Chad Mitchell, leader of the legendary folk group "The Chad Mitchell Trio" signed with Mission Control Records in 2014. Chad's original group was formed in the late 1950's with three members of the Gonzaga Glee club and capitalized on the emerging folk music genre. Their music was sometimes political, sometimes satirical - but always popular. They signed with Mercury Records in 1963 and the group continued to have huge success appearing on national TV shows like The Bell Telephone Hour and The Ed Sullivan Show .
When Chad went solo for the first time, John Denver stepped in to take his place but the group soon disbanded. The group reunited in the 1980's and did several concerts that were broadcast on PBS that included the original members plus John Denver. One of their original guitarists, Roger McGuinn went on to form "The Byrds".
Chad first recorded with Mission Control on the 2001 KREM-TV Christmas special that featured he and Randy Shaw doing a duet of "Little Drummer Boy". The two also appeared on the 2013 release called "In Your Honor" that raised money for the Honor Flight charity and achieved top 10 status on the Amazon Music charts. Chad's first new single with Mission Control will be "Ship of State", was released on February 25th on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon Music and every other major online retailer.
After more than 5 decades entertaining audiences around the world, we are extremely proud to have Chad as part of our musical family. His voice is as great as ever and he has a lot of good music to share", says Karl Bingle, Mission Control CEO.
